ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
Victoria was born in Cairo, Egypt to a Kenyan mother and Congolese father before moving to Nairobi, Kenya where she was raised. She was influenced by her mother’s sophisticated and classic style which inspired in her an appreciation for design and fashion from a tender age.
She moved to California to pursue her undergraduate studies, and later to New York City in late 90s to pursue a career in finance. Living in New York City fed Victoria’s passion for exploring avant-garde fashion, mainstream designers, and her own individual sense of style. She views fashion as an outward expression of oneself, and truly believes in the transformative power of clothes to inspire confidence.
Before co-founding ANASA Resort Wear, Victoria had a successful career working at a leading New York City hedge fund, managing the fund’s corporate investigations and due diligence operations. However, after 13 years at the fund, her heart craved for a creative outlet. It was then that she made a conscious pivot from finance to fashion. She embraced the change and went for it, taking great pride in her ability to constantly learn and adapt to changing environments.
For Victoria, the decision to move back home after living abroad for 20 years, came with the realization that there are actions we can all take to change our corner of the world, giving her a new sense of purpose as co-founder and managing director of a fashion brand with a sustainable impact to its employees.
Victoria currently resides in Nairobi with her husband and two children, ages ten and twelve. She is passionate about creativity, life and family and invests her heart and soul into everything she does.
Katie Burdett Plitt is a textile designer, graphic artist and illustrator who cannot remember a time when she wasn't captivated by fashion.
At a young age, she left her home state of Wisconsin to pursue a career in art and design, traveling to New York City to attend the prestigious Parsons School of Design. Following graduation, she decided New York was her new home. She joined one of the world’s most prominent fashion brands where she spent two decades creating original textile patterns and graphic designs for many licensed categories as well as learning the business behind the glamour.
An avid entrepreneur, she has pursued many creative endeavors including creating her own fabric line, a children’s television show pilot, and illustrations that have been featured in magazines all around the world. In 2018 she fulfilled a longtime dream when she and her partner Victoria Dadet-Nganga launched Anasa, a luxury womenswear brand made in Kenya, that embodied their love of travel, fashion and social responsibility.
A mother of two boys ages, eleven and fifteen, Katie is passionate about making things, great design, travel, animals, and learning about and exploring new cultures.
